Hydration and endurance performance: time to rethink hydration guidelines for athletes?

Talk Abstract

Traditionally, hydration guidelines for athletes have taken the approach of recommending athletes keep dehydration accrued during exercise to a minimum and less than the equivalent of a 2% drop in body mass. This talk will evaluate the evidence underpinning if/how dehydration impacts endurance performance, as well as strategies to mitigate the impact of dehydration with special consideration for situations where maintaining athlete hydration might not be possible.
