Bostjan Pokorny
Urban mammals in Slovenia
Prof. Boštjan Pokorny is dean of the Faculty of Environmental Protection, Velenje, Slovenia, and a senior researcher at the Slovenian Forestry Institute. He is deeply involved in science-based population management and wildlife monitoring, with main research interest in different aspects of wildlife biology (e.g., reproductive potential of ungulates, intraspecific interactions, spatial behaviour of large mammals, exposure and responses of wildlife to stress-inducing factors), and particularly in conflicts between wildlife and humans (mainly traffic collisions, but also wild boar damages). He is also interested in urban wildlife: recently, he led two scientific projects focused on general aspects on wildlife as well as on hooded crow presence, conflicts, and their mitigations in towns.
